    Really I think some things should be simplified. Despite historic traditions. Transition period is always short if one looks from a long perspective.
    What I will applaud, is a transition to even month calendar. Having 30 days in every solid month, plus New Year "vacations" will benefit many processes. This calendar will use "vacations" interval to adjust local Earth clock to astronomical processes as well, with a transparent procedure.
    If you ever wrote #software for dates/times/timezones/Daylight saving time and so on, you know for sure this is a programmer's nightmare.

     This way any attempt to intentionally hurt a public software, for any reason and purpose, compromises not only affected software itself but the great underline idea and goal of free and open software. It hurts a trust - a tiny little thing on a peak of the software development pyramid.
